Nord Modular

The Nord Modular is unique among the synthesizers here in that though it needs a computer to create sounds, it will still work when unplugged from the computer. It is even possible to assign parameters to controllers so they can still be modified without the PC. There are two versions available - rackmount and one with a two-octave keyboard. The Nord Modular is 4-part multitimbral and can do 4 or more voices, depending on the model complexity (though an expansion card is available that doubles its power). Initially only Windows is supported but Mac is meant to come later. There are four audio outputs and two inputs. The keyboard version costs $2795 and the rack version costs $2495.
