VAZ/VAZ+
VAZ+ is the new, registered version of VAZ. VAZ runs under Windows, but the response time, including from MIDI, isn't too bad (about 300ms) - it is possible to use a keyboard to drive it. It features two oscillators, an LFO and two envelopes with extensive cross-modulation facilities. It has a sequencer which is based around that from the TB-303, so is similar to that from Rubber Duck but with additional modulation settings. Only VAZ+ has a randomise function which allows you to select ranges or each of the paramters. I tried putting a Rubber Duck sequence into the sequencer, but it didn't sound as good - though Rubber Duck is less flexible it seems like it is better at generating acid type bass lines (or maybe I set it up wrongly). The brilliant thing about VAZ is the way it is possible to get extreme results by pushing some of the settings to their limits. Another cool thing is that one of the oscillators works on lowest note priority and one works on highest note priority, so by pressing two keys it is possible to get the oscillators to produce different notes (in VAZ+ low or high note priority can also be selected). There is a capture to wave file facility. VAZ Plus also has a smaller lag when pressing MIDI keys, patch memories, a ring modulator (very cool), MIDI sync, even more extensive cross-modulation and polyphony for faster computers.
