Generator

I haven't seen this package, but it sounds very impressive. It is a fully modular synthisizer, which through the use of a digital to analogue converter card, supplied with the software, has next to no lag time. At the moment it has saw, pulse, sine, triangle, noise and ramp/multistep DCOs, a selection of filters (1, 2 and 4 pole), several envelope types as well as some other modules (including an adder, multiplier, mixer, distortion and a polynomial wave shaper). Some of the future modules sound very exciting such as a vocal formant filter, morphing, physical modelling and an arpeggiator.

If the PC is powerful enough, Generator supports both polyphony and multitimbrality - the manufacturer, Native Instruments, claims four voices at 44KHz on a P133 (assuming a Minimoog-type architecture).
