Review: Hardcore Heaven 2

Well, here I am, Monday night, only just recovering from one of the best Saturday nights ever at The Sanctuary.

Yes, I mean Hardcore Heaven 2 - The Return!!!

I was soooooo close to not being able to get down to this event, but a few last minute phone-calls sorted that out.

We arrived a bit late (about 10:30 - 11:00pm) and we were very surprised to see NO QUEUE AT ALL!!!, we waltzed straight thru' the doors to be promptly searched by the infamous Sanctuary security. I was very suprised when one of the security blokes said "How are ya mate?", "Tops! I replied!" - obviously somebody has had a word with them about their attitude.

I strode thru the doors to see fucking LOADS of people, and a huge cloakroom queue..they had run out of space so I jammed my coat between between some railings covered by some black cloth.

Druid was on when I was sorted, who played a spot on set, Sharkey was there on stage stomping his bollocks off and blurting out some brilliant rymes. Druid ending, then it was time for Scorpio (Techno)...Hmm I thought...hard techno in the happy areana? I danced for a bit and got bored so I went upstairs to see what was happining up there...HMS was spinning away, playing some of the most evil tunes I have heard in my life. In my opinion, and in many others as well, his tunes were too fast, and nobody could do anything but shake their fists at them!! A whole hour of hard techno and gabber...some of the Die-Hard happy fans were not amused :(

I strode off into the toilets to meet some people and talk crap, which I did quite succesfully for about 20mins, until we were all kicked out by the security with their torches shining underneath the toilet cubacules :( I walked outside into the outdoor chill out area, or should I call it a small fun fair, it had some of the most rediculous rides there, which I made a decision NOT to go on them!. I met up with some really nice ravers and chatted to them for about 30mins.

HMS ended, and it was time for Seduction...before I got into some serious stompin', I nipped upstairs to say hello to Fergus (he works at our local record store in nottingham), which I was very pleased to see, not fergus, but HIXXY!!! YEAH HIXXY!!!, I stayed for the whole of his STORMING happy hardcore / happy techno set, and I was extremly sweaty at the end of it!!. Loads of people were gutted because they planned to do Seduction downstairs, and then move onto Hixxy, and they missed him......it was a time for griefing for ravers all across Hardcore Heaven :( But who cares?? I was there!!!!!!! Yeha!! [that's the spirit! - Ed]

The rest of the night flew by with incredible music, booming out of a crystal sound system, which I must admit was A LOT LOUDER THAN DIEHARD, despite the flyer's mentioning of a 120K rig.

The evening came to a sad yet happy ending with Slipmatt finishing off the night. I grabbed my coat, found my mate and went the the local service station to chill-out until 12:30pm - 1:00pm.

A great night, brilliant music and lots of crazy people (including two girls dressed as power rangers - complete with crash helmets!!).

Brilliant. Sorry if this review is a tad too long, but I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did writing it :) [of course - Ed]
